Ive updated my blog to show the links to my social media accounts, but today I was kindly sent an invitation over to the new alternative to Twitter called “Blue Skies”.
You can find me on the platform at Brian Roscoe (@brianroscoe.bsky.social) – Bluesky
Blue sky thinking is a brainstorming approach that involves generating ideas without practical constraints. The idea is to be open to all creative ideas regardless of practical constraints, with the premise that ideas beget more ideas. Blue-sky thinking sessions can involve a group of people looking at an opportunity with fresh eyes, writing down everyone’s ideas on a flip chart, or writing down as many ideas as they can on sticky notes before displaying them on a wall.
This new alternative to twitters name makes sense, and is currently only accepting new accounts by allowing already accepted users to send out invite codes. This way the network grows more slowly, albeit i’m not sure why it differs to the likes of @threads which was Meta’s version of Twitter that everyone appeared to sign up on, but then never use.
Ill try to use my account as such and use it as my primary social feed as im tired of X and its attempts to monetise users, given that Elon also today announced that all X (previously Twitter) users will be made to pay at least something to use the service.
This month Bluesky managed to announce it had 1 million users (up from 50,000 in April 2023) which is great growth, so i am sure that more and more people will give it a try and from looking at the main profile page Ive created (yet to post!) then it looks extremely similar to Twitter!
I will update this article as my progress with it goes, and unfortunately my design template has no more space for me to fit an icon at the top left hand side of the website (yet!)
